Terms & Conditions of Service

By using this website, you agree to the following terms and conditions. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use this website.

1. Website Information

The content provided on this website is for general informational purposes only and is not intended to replace medical advice, diagnosis, or emergency mental health support.

Using this website does not establish a therapeutic relationship between you and Brett Dean Therapy.

A therapeutic relationship is only established once an initial assessment has taken place, both parties agree to work together, and a therapy contract is signed by both parties.

2. Emergency Support

This website and email contact are not monitored as emergency services.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or require urgent support, please contact:

  • Your GP
  • NHS 111 (option 2)
  • Emergency services (999) or your local A&E
  • Your local crisis team
  • Samaritans (116 123)

3. Confidentiality

Any information shared through this website or by email will be treated respectfully and in accordance with the Privacy Policy. However, communication through websites or email cannot be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Please avoid sending highly sensitive or confidential information through website contact forms or standard email where possible.

For clients in therapy with Brett Dean Therapy, confidentiality will follow professional codes and the terms outlined in your therapy contract. Confidentiality may be broken when there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else, or when required by law.

To protect you, as my client, to ensure safe and ethical practice, and to maintain my accreditation I am required to have continued training and to engage in regular supervision Therefore I may discuss your case in supervision. I would not use any identifying details. My supervisor will also be bound by the BABCP Code of Practice and confidentiality.

4. Appointments and Therapy Services

Details regarding therapy sessions, fees, cancellation policies, confidentiality, and therapeutic agreements will be discussed directly before therapy begins.

Payment for sessions is expected at least 48-hours before the start of the scheduled appointment time. If payment is not made, Brett Dean reserve's the right to cancel the appointment. If payment is made, and the appointment is not attended or cancelled within 24-hours notice then no refund will be made. If an appointment is cancelled before the 24-hour window, the payment will either be refunded (if the client wishes to terminate the therapy contract and cease sessions), or transferred to the newly rescheduled appointment. 

Brett Dean Therapy reserves the right to decline or discontinue services whenever necessary or appropriate, including where specialist support may be more suitable, or where the support identified as required falls outside of Brett Dean's clinical skillset, knowledge, or expertise.

Therapy services may also be withdrawn if you, at any time: 

  • Display aggressive, threatening or abusive behaviour
  • Attend under the influence of alcohol or non-prescibed drugs

If therapy is withdrawn for the above reasons, no refund will be provided for the sessions attended.

You retain the right to end therapy at any time throughout your appointments. Should you cancel an appointment and not make efforts to reschedule, I will reach out to you once via email to offer an appointment. If I receive no reply within 7-days of that email, I will consider our appointments to have ended.

It is not appropriate to make contact with me outside of our therapy sessions. Contact via this website should be limited to initial enquires only. Contact via email should be limited to scheduling of therapy sessions and returning intake documents only. It is not appropriate to contact me on social media. If this occurs, Brett Dean reserves the right to cease providing therapy services. If accidental contact is made (i.e., in person), Brett Dean will not make direct contact with you. You are encouraged to do the same, but if this is not possible contact should be kept brief, civil, and not include any information about the content of your therapy sessions. 

You are under no obligation to pay for private therapy. In England and Wales, you can access NHS Talking Therapies for free via your local service. Information on this can be found here.

5. Website Use

You agree not to:

  • Use this website unlawfully
  • Attempt to interfere with website functionality or security
  • Copy or reproduce website content without permission
  • Use the website in any way that may damage or disrupt services

6. External Links

This website may occasionally include links to external websites or resources for information purposes.

Brett Dean Therapy is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of external websites.

7. Limitation of Liability

While reasonable efforts are made to ensure website information is accurate and up to date, Brett Dean Therapy makes no guarantees regarding completeness, reliability, or availability of the website or its content.

Use of this website is at your own risk.

8. Changes to These Terms

These terms and conditions may be updated periodically without notice.

I do not provide crisis intervention or support.
